Jim Czajkowski, known as Jimmy "Alphabets" to his officiating buddies, began his career in officiating in 1985 right after graduating from UConn, where he earned a bachelor's degree in finance. Like many former athletes, he needed an outlet to stay involved in sports, and never considered officiating until Tom DeJoseph mentioned it. He took the test that summer and his journey began. Like many officials, he worked Pop Warner games with many veteran officials, who gave him the basics. He says, he was "fortunate to get on a crew with Bill Keefe. who instilled in me to be always on time and make sure you looked the role."
After five years he decided to take the test for college and was blessed to be accepted in 1993.
During his career first with the Fairfield County Board and then with Colonial, he has worked many crucial games. He has been assigned to six CIAC playoff games.
He worked for the ECAC until 1999, getting assigned a Division II quarter-final round game in 1998 and then in 1999 he worked the ECAC Bowl game. In 2000 he began game in 1998. and in 1999, he worked the ECAC Bowl game. In 2000 he began officiating in the NEC as well as the PSAC for Milt Halstead, working all over Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. In 2000 he was also selected to work in the Arena2 indoor football league, which was owned by the NFL.
"I was fortunate to have worked in that league and I met many officials, three of which are in the NFL as officials today from my crew," he said.
He was selected to work a playoff game in 2000 as well and was elected as the Vice-President of the EAIFO-CT Chapter in 2008 and in 2009 served as the President.
In 2005 he was promoted to work in the Colonial-Ivy-Patriot for Jim Maconaghey and has worked the last 9 years at this level. In 2012 I worked the Patriot Championship game between Lehigh and Colgate.
In his business life he works as a Certified Financial Planner AXA Advisors. He is married to Dr. Claudia Giuliani and they have two children, Aleksandra and James.
